Cisco IOS IPS is now inline, deep packet, inspection technology?which helps to effectively mitigate a wide range of network attacks without compromising performance and is available at every network access point.
Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) is a very mature protocol, benefiting from years of development and production deployment. However, as STP makes assumptions about the quality of the network, the protocol can fail. Those failures are generally high-profile failures because of the extent to which they impact the network. STP is designed to never open a loop, even temporarily, during its operation. However, like any protocol, it is based on some assumptions that might not be valid in a network.
A switch with multiple VLANs requires a means of passing Layer 3 traffic between those VLANs. Multilayer switches provide the ability to route between VLANs as well as create individual routed ports. In this learning module, you will learn how to create a Switched Virtual Interface (SVI) to route between VLANs. You will also configure a routed port and enable routing on a multilayer switch.
The Catalyst switch Cisco IOS Software has different configuration modes, including the global configuration mode and the interface configuration mode. This mobile learning module describes how to complete the initial switch configuration using both modes.
This mobile learning module discusses VLANs, trunking, and the VLAN Trunking Protocol (VTP) in Cisco multilayer switched networks. The basic configuration and troubleshooting of VLANs, trunking, and inter-VLAN routing are also covered.
This mobile learning module teaches basic Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) protocol concepts. This module demonstrates how to configure authentication for OSPF, how to configure load balancing with OSPF, and how to verify OSPF configuration and perform basic OSPF troubleshooting.
This mobile learning module teaches the difference between LANs and WANs and covers methods for connecting to a WAN. The module also includes a video demonstration of configuring and verifying a basic WAN serial connection and troubleshooting basic WAN implementation issues.
This mobile learning module teaches the operation and benefits of DHCP. A video demonstration of configuring, verifying, and troubleshooting DHCP operation on a router is included.
This mobile learning module teaches basic Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) concepts. You will also watch a demonstration of how to perform the required configuration, configure load balancing and route authentication, and verify and troubleshoot your EIGRP configuration.
Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) helps prevent a LAN with redundant links from causing Ethernet frames to loop for an indefinite period of time. This mobile learning module provides an overview of STP and its configuration.
802.1X is an IEEE standard for media-level access control, offering the capability to permit or deny network connectivity, control VLAN access, and apply traffic policy based on user or machine identity. This learning module describes the basics for deploying 802.1 features for increase control over unauthorized network access.
Digit manipulation, or the ability of Cisco Unified Communications Manager to add or subtract digits to comply with a specific internal dial plan or national numbering plan, is important to providing transparent dialing and to creating a unified dialing plan for end users.
Automating digit manipulation using transformations within Cisco Unified Communications Manager is important to providing transparent dialing and creating a unified dialing plan for end users.
Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) is a scalable routing protocol, which ensures that as a network grows larger, it operates efficiently and adjusts rapidly to changes. This lesson describes advanced EIGRP features for stub networks and practical EIGRP-specific design and configuration techniques to implement an effective, scalable network.
In this learning module, you will learn how the Cisco Security Agent and the Cisco Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) defend against network threats and how they can work together to enhance their operation.
This learning module provides engineering and architectural principles that are critical for the successful implementation of an enterprise campus network. You will also learn the role of the three tiers, or functional layers, of an enterprise campus.
The data center brings its own specific challenges to network design, based on the density of high-performance end nodes within a very constrained physical space. This learning module describes general considerations for effectively integrating data center design.
